Today on my birthday, I continue to fight for Texas students in releasing the below op-ed. Earlier this month, I joined with my colleagues, Rep. Gina Hinojosa and Representative Ana-Maria Ramos in writing this op-ed, asking Governor Greg Abbott to reconsider his decision to require STAAR tests during the 2020-2021 school year and to instead redirect those funds to make investments in educational opportunities for our students.
